Camille works as a Low-Voltage Technician at Elia

Elia has one of the most reliable high-voltage grids in Europe. This is no coincidence given that hundreds of low-voltage technicians are busy every day monitoring the safety, security and quality of the grid. But it is a far from simple task. Just ask Low-Voltage Technician Camille.

Camille

An energy provider – in more ways than one

“After completing my undergraduate degree in electromechanics, it was almost a given that I would gravitate towards a top employer like Elia. I deliberately opted for a solid company providing an essential service, with a focus on sustainability, innovation and great employment conditions. Working at Elia gives me energy – literally and figuratively! It’s also fantastic to feel that I’m contributing to a reliable and safe power grid through my job as a Low-Voltage Technician. I thoroughly enjoy my diverse range of tasks.”

Safety first!

“Together with my colleagues in the maintenance team, I head out and about every day testing our security and control systems. If we notice something that isn’t right, we immediately take action to resolve the issue. When it comes to power supply, doing things by halves isn’t an option. Decisive action is the name of the game! By working closely together as a team, we always manage to detect problems in good time.”

A passion for technology

“To be a Low-Voltage Technician you need to have a passion for technology, along with a keen interest in digitalisation and automation. That’s certainly true of my colleagues and myself! In return, I get the chance to work with the latest technologies and to immerse myself in other technical departments. Also, my employer encourages me to keep learning all the time. That really appeals to me because I’m naturally a very curious person.”

Sparring partner

“Given the choice between teamwork and working by myself, I’d opt for teamwork every time. Without colleagues I would have no sparring partners to test ideas on or ask questions. Also, it’s that interaction that allows us to keep our collective technical knowledge up to date. We spur each other on to provide the very best service to our customers. And the fact that the atmosphere in our team is so great makes working at Elia an absolute pleasure!”

Career development opportunities

Enthusiasm, drive and a positive attitude. This is how Camille sums up the atmosphere in her team. “It’s a very infectious combination and makes us go the extra mile every day. And who knows, my job as a Low-Voltage Technician may be the perfect springboard to progress into other technical departments within Elia and so build up a broad knowledge of the sector.”
